Responsibilities
- Design and implement pipelines for training, evaluating, deploying, and monitoring learning-to-rank models.
- Work with ML Scientists to productionize ranking models and improve reliability, latency, and observability.
- Build and optimize real-time model-serving systems for personalized rankings across the Depop app.
- Partner with backend and product teams to define integration requirements and coordinate ranking-service deployments.
- Extend ranking ML infrastructure, including reproducible training workflows, model deployment pipelines, model serving, feature-store consistency, monitoring, and alerting.
- Maintain operational excellence through testing, monitoring, maintenance, and incident response.
- Contribute to a scalable engineering culture focused on experimentation and measurable impact.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and deploying machine learning pipelines in production environments.
- Experience with ranking, recommendation, or retrieval systems.
- Strong understanding of machine learning workflows from experimentation through production deployment.
- Experience designing and operating systems in modern cloud environments such as AWS or GCP.
- Ability to work independently with strong ownership in a fast-moving environment.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Curiosity about AI and willingness to explore how it can enhance day-to-day work.
- Experience with Python, machine learning frameworks, ML/MLOps tooling, Spark, Databricks, cloud services, and streaming or batch data systems is relevant to the role.
