Responsibilities

  • Design highly scalable, mission-critical market data provider services
  • Build and deploy new services and libraries to address technical challenges at scale
  • Improve Alpaca’s architecture for stock, options, crypto, and foreign exchange data products
  • Oversee public API structure and documentation for streaming and historical endpoints
  • Maintain software quality and test coverage
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Troubleshoot incidents and reported bugs

Requirements

  • BSc, MSc, or equivalent experience in Computer Science or a related field
  • At least three years of backend software development experience
  • Hands-on experience with Docker or Kubernetes
  • Understanding of POSIX-like operating systems, modern infrastructure, and orchestration practices
  • Experience with large-scale software architecture and development
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with large datasets, SQL, IP networking, financial markets, or major cloud platforms is advantageous
  • Kubernetes CKA or CKAD certification is a plus
  • Hands-on knowledge of shell scripting, Linux, and Docker is advantageous
