Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and refactor complex backend services and database systems in C#/.NET.
- Drive architectural decisions and support migration from serverless workloads to containerized services.
- Lead code reviews, mentor engineers, and raise standards for software development, security, and testing.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to refine requirements and acceptance criteria around customer outcomes.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines and manage logging, metrics, and monitoring.
- Evaluate design trade-offs, manage technical debt, and integrate security into system design.
- Partner with QA to maintain strong test coverage across the Agile testing pyramid.
Requirements
- Strong proven expertise designing and building backend services with C#/.NET.
- Experience with loosely coupled distributed architectures using event-based or message queue patterns.
- Strong SQL skills covering database design and query optimization.
- Experience operating services on a major cloud platform; Azure is used, with AWS or GCP experience transferable.
- Experience with unit and integration testing.
- Practical day-to-day experience using AI coding assistants and critically reviewing generated code.
- Comfort working with Git and CI/CD pipelines in agile environments.
- Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders and a track record of mentoring team members.
- Preferred: modern .NET experience, native Azure services, Bicep or Terraform, serverless and containerized infrastructure, Angular or other frontend component frameworks, high-throughput transactional messaging, and AI tools for testing, refactoring, or documentation.
