$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components.
- Define scalability, performance, durability, availability, and service-level requirements for owned components.
- Optimize code and systems for high-throughput, large-scale data processing and data-plane workloads.
- Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, consistency and partition-handling strategies.
- Implement load shedding, throttling, rate limiting, telemetry, KPIs, dashboards, alerts, replication, and synchronization mechanisms.
- Design performance, load, fault-injection, brownout, and correctness testing scenarios.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve production issues; participate in operational support rotations and root-cause investigations.
- Mentor peers and junior team members and provide technical oversight across moderately complex projects and initiatives.
- Implement security controls, remediation plans, encryption, access controls, and cloud compliance documentation.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code and automation for cloud infrastructure patching, updates, and rollbacks.
- Participate in candidate interviews and provide hiring recommendations.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in security engineering, application development, or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience with systems or application development.
- 4+ years of experience with distributed systems or network programming.
- Demonstrated ability to write code in Java or similar object-oriented languages.
- Experience building automated network and security solutions.
- Strong network, security, identity, and service architecture and design experience.
- Proficiency with data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
- Experience with distributed systems concepts including the CAP theorem, consensus, messaging, and high availability.
- Experience building cloud products, particularly security- and network-related products.
- Experience with Windows and Linux.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
