Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of backend services supporting Apple’s continuous integration and developer workflow infrastructure.
- Architect scalable, reliable systems and define how services integrate across diverse workflows.
- Drive major technical initiatives from design through production while building cross-functional alignment.
- Improve developer experience and identify future improvements for the platform.
- Operate production services through on-call support, incident response, observability, and reliability improvements.
- Mentor engineers and establish technical standards for service quality and operational excellence.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of industry software engineering experience focused on backend services or platform infrastructure.
- Proficiency in a backend language such as Scala, Java, or Kotlin.
- Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL database systems for large-scale data.
- Strong understanding of software design principles, distributed systems, and service architecture.
- Experience designing or owning systems involving scale, reliability, cloud infrastructure, databases, APIs, and multi-service integration.
- Experience using observability and analytics tools such as Splunk or Grafana.
- Production operations experience including on-call responsibilities and incident response.
- Track record of leading technical work, working independently on complex problems, and collaborating across teams.
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
- Preferred experience with API design, RESTful services, event-driven architectures, message queues, asynchronous processing, API gateways, authentication, authorization, observability, logging, distributed tracing, CI/CD systems, build pipelines, developer platforms, version-control integrations, and macOS or iOS development environments.
- Preferred experience mentoring engineers, setting technical standards, and using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity.
- Swift or Python experience is a preferred qualification.
