Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain web-based applications using Ruby on Rails or Java.
- Analyze functional business applications and design specifications and translate detailed designs into application systems.
- Test, debug, and refine applications to deliver required functionality.
- Prepare program-level and user-level documentation.
- Enhance applications to improve performance and add functionality.
- Provide technical direction to engineers to help meet program deadlines.
- Integrate front-end and back-end APIs to support use of different front-end frameworks.
- Follow IT operations best practices, including issue management and incident response.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree and five years of related experience, or 11 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree.
- Five years of experience in Linux environments, relational databases, and full-stack application development.
- Five years of experience developing web-based applications using Ruby on Rails or Java.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, data structures, and algorithms.
- U.S. citizenship and an active U.S. Department of Energy clearance.
- Knowledge of IT operations best practices and procedures.
- Experience using Agile development methodologies.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and a strong customer service commitment.
- Familiarity with information security best practices.
- Preferred experience integrating front-end and back-end APIs and using Rails testing frameworks such as RSpec.
