Staff Engineer, Agent Productivity

Responsibilities
- Own local developer environments, including devboxes, local databases, Docker workflows, dependencies, secrets, and agent ergonomics
- Improve build, test, and CI feedback loops by reducing flaky tests, improving CI failure modes, and aligning local validation with CI
- Build reusable verification infrastructure for frontend flows, migrations, schema changes, integration paths, API contracts, and structured review evidence
- Create internal paved-road tooling such as CLIs, scaffolds, templates, code generation, migration helpers, and release utilities
- Create scoped and auditable agent access to local databases, browsers, GitHub, CI, logs, and documentation while controlling PHI and production-data workflows
- Shape technical direction and infrastructure investments supporting growth, reliability, security, privacy, and healthcare compliance
Requirements
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience with Staff-level impact across teams
- Deep experience building developer productivity, platform, CI, test, or internal tooling systems adopted by engineers
- Strong backend or platform fundamentals in TypeScript, Rust, Go, Python, or similar technologies
- Daily experience using Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or an equivalent tool on real production codebases
- Clear judgment about where AI agents help or fail and what infrastructure makes them reliable
- Sound security judgment and the ability to translate risk into practical controls
- Willingness to work from the San Francisco office three days per week
