Base Salary

$131k - $237k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop, and implement next-generation software using modern software engineering practices.
  • Architect and implement enterprise DevOps, GitOps, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, containerization, and AWS cloud solutions.
  • Develop AI-assisted engineering workflows involving agentic coding, multi-agent orchestration, RAG, context engineering, and AI evaluations or guardrails.
  • Provide hands-on customer integration for enterprise CI/CD architecture and support application modernization and migration to containerized platforms.
  • Provide architectural oversight for software development, integration, test automation, security testing, deployments, application integration, and user experience.
  • Mentor development teams and investigate and repair defects across pipelines, front-end components, business logic, middleware, and backend systems.
  • Communicate significant technical matters and present solutions to executive leadership and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, engineering, or a related technical discipline; a master’s or doctorate may substitute for required experience.
  • 12+ years of full-lifecycle development experience.
  • 7+ years of combined GitOps, DevOps, or DevSecOps experience.
  • 7+ years of software development experience using Java, C++, or Python.
  • Experience with AI-assisted software development, including tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or equivalent platforms.
  • Expertise architecting solutions for operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, cost optimization, and sustainability.
  • Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or other Kubernetes platforms, Docker or Podman, and Helm.
  • Experience architecting enterprise DevOps/GitOps solutions using GitLab, Argo CD, Argo Workflows, Argo Rollouts, Argo Events, and Git.
  • Experience architecting and deploying cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Experience with monitoring, scalability, application reliability tools, technology evaluation, requirements analysis, and leadership-level solution design.
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.
  • Preferred qualifications include FAA development-environment experience, AI spec-driven development, secrets and configuration management, network or security engineering, service mesh technologies, automated testing, Kafka and event-driven architecture, infrastructure-as-code tools, and AWS cloud certifications.

  • Hybrid work arrangement: three days per week in the Gaithersburg, Maryland office and two days per week from home.
  • Travel of up to 25%, generally involving one- to two-week trips to airports across the country.
  • The role supports deployment of the TFDM system to 89 airports.
