Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain OSS automation workflows and orchestration scripts for network operations, fault management, service assurance, reporting, and inventory.
  • Identify manual or repetitive operational processes for automation, manage the automation backlog, estimate effort, and drive work through production delivery.
  • Design and maintain automated test suites covering nominal, fault, and edge-case conditions.
  • Execute test plans, document results, track defects, and coordinate resolution with internal teams.
  • Create test plans, test cases, test reports, coverage summaries, and workflow documentation.
  • Gather requirements and transfer knowledge with Service Assurance and Service Delivery teams.
  • Identify automation failures, performance degradation, and reliability issues; lead root-cause analysis and remediation.
  • Improve automation reliability, coverage, and maintainability using operational feedback and incident learnings.
  • Provide first-line support for production OSS automated processes and workflows.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for all deployed automation workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, telecommunications, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in automation engineering, test engineering, or a combined software/QA role.
  • Experience designing and building automation workflows, orchestration scripts, or operational automation pipelines beyond test scripts.
  • Proficiency in Python or another scripting language and familiarity with test frameworks such as pytest or Robot Framework.
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration or BPM tools such as Camunda, Apache Airflow, or Ansible.
  • Ability to query and manipulate SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Knowledge of test strategy, test case development, test automation frameworks, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with telecom OSS concepts including FCAPS and TMF eTOM, plus practical network operations or service assurance experience.
  • Working knowledge of NETCONF/YANG, SNMP, or TMF Open APIs.
  • Experience with OSS platforms, NMS/EMS systems, or network simulation tools.
  • Experience integrating automation with REST APIs and event-driven messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS.
  • Experience embedding automated tests and quality gates in CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK for production observability.
  • Comfort developing, deploying, and debugging automation in Linux.
  • Preferred experience in telecom, network operations, or OSS/BSS systems.
