Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, distributed services, backend infrastructure, and data-processing pipelines.
- Build reliable, high-performance backend architectures and platform services using modern software engineering practices.
- Collaborate with software engineers, scientists, designers, product managers, employees, and external partners to implement, integrate, test, deploy, and maintain products.
- Contribute to and execute the software and platform roadmap for quantum programming development tools.
- Identify technical and architectural gaps, recommend improvements, and implement solutions for scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Provide technical guidance to the Director of Engineering and mentor junior engineers.
- Maintain technical documentation and contribute to technical reports, research papers, and engineering documentation.
- Help develop and protect intellectual property related to quantum hardware and software innovations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, electronics engineering, or a related technology area.
- At least 5 years of relevant software engineering experience in a high-performing team.
- Strong understanding of backend architectures, distributed systems, APIs, service-oriented design, messaging, concurrency, and scalable system design.
- Demonstrable backend programming skills in Python, Go, or similar languages.
- Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB database systems.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems.
- Experience deploying and operating backend services in cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Git or SVN, testing, debugging, observability, performance optimization, and modern software engineering practices.
- Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, adaptability, and technical documentation skills.
- Proven record of delivering high-quality software, features, and systems on schedule.
- Master’s degree in software engineering or a related field is desirable.
