Base Salary
$167k - $291k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable cryptographic services meeting FIPS compliance and regulated-environment requirements.
- Architect and operate mission-critical crypto services with reliability and security as first-class constraints.
- Own services end-to-end on Kubernetes in a multi-tenant SaaS environment, including deployment, scaling, on-call, and incident response.
- Apply threat modeling, secure coding, and rigorous code review to platform security designs.
- Evaluate AI/ML applications such as key-usage anomaly detection, certificate lifecycle risk scoring, and cryptographic anti-pattern detection.
- Translate compliance and security requirements into working cryptographic frameworks with product, security architecture, and platform teams.
- Mentor engineers on secure coding, cryptographic pitfalls, and design review rigor.
- Track cryptographic advancements, including post-quantum readiness, and prepare the platform ahead of compliance deadlines.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Production-scale experience with Java, Go, or a comparable strongly typed language.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and distributed systems tradeoffs.
- Production experience running services on Kubernetes, including deployments and Helm, in a SaaS or multi-tenant environment.
- Working knowledge of symmetric and asymmetric encryption, hashing, digital signatures, TLS, and PKI fundamentals.
- Demonstrated secure coding, threat modeling, and code review discipline.
- Preferred: experience with cryptography, PKI, key management, secrets management, certificate lifecycle systems, HSM/KMS integration, or crypto-agility.
- Preferred: hands-on AI/ML exposure and experience applying ML to security or operations problems or integrating LLM tooling into engineering workflows.
- Preferred: experience with regulated environments such as FIPS 140-2/3, FedRAMP, or Common Criteria.
- Preferred: exposure to post-quantum cryptography and a record of mentoring engineers.
