Responsibilities
- Own core architectural domains within the OneLake initiative and transition critical platform expertise in-house toward operational autonomy within 90 days.
- Architect, deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot secure multi-account AWS environments using AWS CDK and/or CloudFormation.
- Build end-to-end CI/CD workflows with Git-based versioning, automated testing, linting, code reviews, and controlled environment promotion.
- Design, manage, and optimize scalable data lake architectures using Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, and Amazon S3.
- Implement fine-grained access control, role-based policies, least-privilege principles, and enterprise data governance controls using AWS IAM.
- Develop backend automation, APIs, and data synchronization layers using Python, Boto3, AWS AppSync, and serverless compute.
- Collaborate with engineering squads, solution architects, and business stakeholders, and mentor colleagues during the first 12 months.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on expertise with AWS IAM, VPC networking, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
- Production experience with infrastructure as code using AWS CDK and/or CloudFormation.
- High proficiency in Python and Boto3, along with Git version control and CI/CD pipeline automation using GitLab CI and/or GitHub Actions.
- Practical experience designing data lake architectures with Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, and Amazon S3.
- Familiarity with Snowflake integrations.
- Three or more years of enterprise data experience in pharmaceutical, Life Sciences R&D, or another regulated sector is preferred.
- Strong collaborative communication skills, senior-level debugging and root-cause analysis ability, and excellent written and spoken English.
