Responsibilities

  • Design and implement reinforcement learning and imitation learning algorithms for robotic manipulation in dynamic environments.
  • Translate high-level objectives into ML problems and deploy robust, scalable models to real-world robotic systems.
  • Integrate ML solutions into robotics workflows and ensure performance in simulated and real-world settings.
  • Incorporate current machine learning research into practical robotic manipulation applications.
  • Own critical ML projects from conception through successful deployment.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to integrate ML models and provide technical mentorship to junior engineers.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in machine learning, computer science, robotics, or a related field.
  • Strong practical experience training and deploying machine learning models for real-world applications.
  • Deep understanding of reinforcement learning and imitation learning applied to robotics.
  • Proficiency with machine learning programming languages and tools such as Python and PyTorch.
  • Experience with data collection, preprocessing, and management for ML model training.
  • Familiarity with robotic simulation environments such as Gazebo or MuJoCo and sim-to-real transfer is preferred.
  • Experience designing reward functions, handling noisy or sparse data, deploying models to edge devices, accelerating training with hardware accelerators, or using reinforcement learning frameworks such as Stable Baselines or RLlib is preferred.
  • General knowledge of robotics principles including kinematics, dynamics, and control is preferred.
  • Publications or contributions related to machine learning, robotics, or reinforcement learning are preferred.
  • Ability to identify problems, prioritize them, and plan and execute effective solutions.
