Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop AI capabilities such as container execution, complex document generation, multimodal interactions, agentic systems, and enterprise computer/tool-use capabilities.
  • Build and evolve the core orchestration and runtime systems for Microsoft 365 Copilot.
  • Write secure, maintainable, well-tested code and provide reviews that coach other engineers.
  • Lead architecture discussions and own trade-offs involving performance, scalability, resiliency, cost of goods sold, and disaster recovery.
  • Define test strategies covering regressions, security invariants, negative cases, suite reliability, and defect localization.
  • Apply security and compliance by design, including threat modeling, breach drills, privacy, accessibility, regulatory requirements, and auditable evidence.
  • Drive project and release plans, experiments, automated deployment, rollback plans, and capacity planning.
  • Serve as an on-call directly responsible individual, improve telemetry and observability, lead incident retrospectives, and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
  • Coding experience in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud background-check and applicable customer or government security-screening requirements.
  • Preferred: master’s degree with 6+ years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor’s degree with 8+ years, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical details across organizational boundaries and work end-to-end through planning, design, execution, release, and service operation.
  • Experience shipping internet-scale, low-latency, high-throughput AI products.
  • Customer, end-result, and metrics-driven approach to design and development.

Benefits

  • The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $119,800–$234,700 per year; specific ranges apply in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position is open for a minimum of five days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
