Base Salary
$174k - $252k/yr
Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and lead backend business-generation projects such as server-driven promotions.
- Scope complex technical problems, maintain backend system health, and guide the backend engineering team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners and Android and iOS engineering leads to define requirements and scalable solutions.
- Build features supporting Google Photos’ storage business-generation mission while maintaining consistent user experiences across platforms.
- Advocate engineering excellence and adoption of developer AI tools across the broader team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
- At least 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products and 1 year of software design and architecture experience.
- At least 3 years of experience developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or working with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
- Preferred: master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience programming in Java or Kotlin.
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
