Base Salary
$220k - $405k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the availability, latency, capacity, and cost of production compute, networking, and storage infrastructure across consumer, Computer, API, and enterprise products.
- Operate and upgrade EKS Kubernetes clusters, including scheduling, autoscaling, node lifecycle, DNS, CNI, CoreDNS, and service networking.
- Design and operate VPC architectures, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, load balancing, DNS, and egress across accounts, regions, and cloud providers.
- Manage durable and performant storage and data services, including backups, restores, performance, and disaster recovery.
- Build reusable Terraform modules, guardrails, and CI/CD workflows for safe, repeatable infrastructure changes.
- Define SLOs and actionable alerts, design for regional and zonal failures, and conduct game days and disaster-recovery exercises.
- Lead production incident response, write blameless postmortems, and implement durable root-cause fixes.
- Own capacity planning, quotas, reservations, cost efficiency, and automation that turns infrastructure operations into self-service workflows.
Requirements
- Deep production AWS expertise, including VPC, IAM, EC2, EKS, ELB, Route 53, S3, EBS, service limits, failure modes, and cost management.
- Production Kubernetes experience at scale, including cluster upgrades, CNI, CoreDNS, autoscaling, and node debugging.
- Strong Terraform experience designing module structures, managing multi-account state, and performing large refactors and imports safely.
- Strong networking fundamentals covering TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, load balancing, and routing.
- Ability to write production automation, tooling, and controllers in Python, Go, or Rust.
- Fluency with observability tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana and experience turning metrics, logs, and traces into meaningful SLOs and alerts.
- Experience leading production incidents and converting root-cause analysis into durable fixes.
- Preferred experience with multi-region architectures, disaster recovery, Envoy, Istio, Cilium, eBPF, Argo CD, Flux, KMS/BYOK, SOC 2 controls, Postgres, Redis, Vespa, Elasticsearch, GCP, CoreWeave, FinOps, Savings Plans, and reservations.
