Responsibilities
- Develop tooling that enables engineering teams to consume datacenter compute like a managed cloud service.
- Build services to provision, configure, and lifecycle-manage virtual machines on bare metal.
- Provide compute infrastructure for pipeline runs and large-scale automated testing.
- Expose datacenter capacity as an elastic fabric that internal workloads can schedule on demand.
- Automate host lifecycle operations, including bring-up, hypervisor configuration, networking, storage, and decommissioning.
- Improve the reliability, observability, performance, security, and scalability of the virtualization layer.
- Support automated product sign-off and performance-testing initiatives.
- Build and maintain tooling that standardizes software development practices across engineering teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience using mainstream programming languages, with .NET or C# preferred; Java, Go, C, C++, Python, or Rust are also relevant.
- Experience operating and scripting on Linux.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, concurrency, data structures, and algorithms.
- Hands-on experience with cloud technologies, preferably Azure, or AWS or GCP.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as QEMU/KVM, libvirt, VMware, Hyper-V, or Xen.
- Knowledge of the full software development life cycle and ability to produce well-tested, high-quality code.
- Preferred experience running bare-metal fleets or datacenter infrastructure at scale.
- Preferred experience with CI/CD, test infrastructure, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
- Preferred familiarity with libvirt, cloud-init, PXE/network booting, VM image pipelines, VLANs, overlays, or SDN.
- Preferred experience with Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Ceph, or ZFS.
