Base Salary
$126k - $248k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate control plane services for an elastic, multi-tenant storage layer serving thousands of database instances.
- Maintain high availability and performance during load spikes, hardware failures, cloud provider outages, and other disruptions.
- Improve operational excellence through dashboards, playbooks, and on-call improvements.
- Lead complex technical projects from planning through deployment and provide clear stakeholder updates.
- Collaborate with database, cloud, infrastructure engineering, and project management teams on incidents and long-term roadmaps.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment.
- Ship production code within the first three months, contribute to a large project within six months, and lead development work and feature design within twelve months.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience building, deploying, and operating multi-tenant cloud services.
- Experience with large backend or compiled codebases, such as Rust or C/C++.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Experience with observability tooling, including time-series metrics and dashboards.
- Experience with distributed systems and familiarity with database internals or core data-processing components.
- Strong verbal and written technical communication, collaboration, time management, and project-complexity assessment skills.
- Demonstrated record of going above and beyond for customers.
- Preferred: experience writing and profiling high-performance Rust code.
- Preferred: experience with chaos engineering, load testing, and scalable cloud services across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Preferred: interest or hands-on experience in high-availability systems; an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in the domain is a plus.
