Responsibilities
- Own and evolve backend systems delivering promotion scores to personalization systems.
- Build and maintain services for promotion allocation and delivery at scale.
- Collaborate with machine learning and data engineers to improve signal quality.
- Contribute to system design decisions impacting Spotify’s discovery ecosystem.
- Improve reliability, scalability, and observability of existing infrastructure.
- Partner with cross-functional teams for seamless integration with personalization workflows.
- Expand scope into adjacent areas like data pipelines or ML-adjacent systems.
Requirements
- Experience building backend systems using Java or similar languages.
- Comfortable working across systems and interested in learning beyond pure backend.
- Driven to leverage AI to improve systems and find practical applications.
- Experience with Scala, Python, or data/ML workflows is a plus.
- Excited to grow into a T-shaped engineer with breadth across backend, data, and ML domains.
- Motivated to take responsibility for evolving critical systems.
- Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, including personalization and data partners.
