Responsibilities
- Assess Apigee estates and analyze proxies, policies, shared flows, products, applications, KVMs, certificates, caches, portal dependencies, and environment configurations.
- Map and rebuild routing, transformations, mediation, traffic management, caching, logging, error handling, threat protection, and API lifecycle controls on the target platform.
- Implement and validate authentication and authorization using OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, API keys, PingFederate, mTLS/TLS, and enterprise identity controls.
- Develop and maintain REST and SOAP integrations using JSON, XML, JavaScript, Node.js, and Spring Boot-based services where required.
- Create OpenAPI/Swagger definitions, API documentation, versioning standards, developer onboarding content, and portal or catalog migration support.
- Build migration utilities, scripts, templates, and repeatable deployment packages to reduce manual conversion effort.
- Integrate API development and deployment with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and Terraform-based infrastructure practices.
- Create unit, functional, regression, negative, security, and performance test assets using Postman and other API/service testing tools.
- Support GCP, GKE, Kubernetes, Docker, Anthos, Istio/Anthos Service Mesh, load balancers, firewalls, Cloud Armor, and IAM environments.
- Troubleshoot gateway, networking, certificate, DNS, firewall, routing, and backend connectivity issues using traces, logs, analytics, and monitoring.
- Plan and execute migration rehearsals, cutovers, rollback arrangements, production validation, and early-life support.
- Maintain migration inventories, design records, dependency logs, risk and issue inputs, test evidence, deployment guides, runbooks, and knowledge-transfer materials.
- Participate in client interviews, workshops, design reviews, status discussions, code reviews, and configuration reviews while promoting reusable patterns and governance standards.
- Provide technical leadership to developers and communicate risks, trade-offs, and implementation recommendations to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 6-10 years of overall integration or API engineering experience with substantial recent hands-on Apigee delivery.
- Hands-on experience with Apigee Edge, Apigee X, Apigee Hybrid, or Apigee OPDK, including proxies, policies, shared flows, products, applications, KVMs, and target servers.
- Experience with API gateway migration, platform modernization, large-scale API onboarding, or conversion of gateway-specific policies to another API management product.
- Strong REST API design and implementation skills plus working knowledge of SOAP/XML integration and mediation patterns.
- Strong understanding of API security, OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, TLS/mTLS, certificates, secrets, and enterprise identity integration.
- Experience with OpenAPI/Swagger, SwaggerHub or Stoplight, API documentation, and lifecycle governance.
- Experience with JavaScript and shell scripting, plus working knowledge of Node.js and/or Spring Boot.
- Experience with Git, Jenkins, CI/CD, automated testing, Postman, and deployment promotion across multiple environments.
- Working knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, GKE, Anthos, Istio/service mesh, cloud networking, load balancers, firewalls, and IAM.
- Ability to independently investigate complex integration issues and communicate effectively with client architects, security teams, infrastructure teams, and application owners.
