Base Salary

$153k - $294k/yr

Responsibilities

Lead applied AI research projects from question framing through experimentation, measurement, and actionable decisions.
Build agentic systems that run long loops, improve automatically, and recover from failures.
Extend and maintain company-wide evaluation tooling with task suites, regression checks, and quality, cost, and speed analysis.
Work with third-party model APIs, open-weight models, GPU infrastructure, fine-tuning, and efficient serving.
Build prototypes, playgrounds, and APIs that let stakeholders test and learn from AI ideas.
Advise deployment teams on AI implementation, monitoring, and understanding production systems.
Evaluate and improve coding-agent performance against internal codebases.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify meaningful research questions and mentor engineers.

5+ years of experience building software and ML systems, including recent hands-on LLM systems that progressed beyond prototypes.
Experience building agents that perform real work and handling failures in long-running agent workflows.
Experience with third-party model APIs, open-weight models, and self-hosted GPU infrastructure.
Experience with Kubernetes inference platforms, Flyte orchestration, LiteLLM, Langfuse, and internal evaluation and tracing tools.
Experience building reliable evaluations and understanding their potential to mislead.
Experience achieving strong results with hosted or self-hosted frontier models.
Strong Python skills and solid machine learning fundamentals.
Daily experience using Claude Code, Cursor, or similar coding agents while maintaining correctness and testing standards.
Preferred: experience fine-tuning or serving open-weight models, automated prompt and pipeline optimization, multi-GPU serving, MCP and tool protocols, cybersecurity use cases, open-source contributions, or publications.
