Responsibilities

  • Craft, implement, debug, and validate firmware features on reference hardware, software, and pre-silicon emulation and simulation environments.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and project planning.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation for software produced.
  • Develop x86 firmware using C.
  • Design, build, and implement embedded firmware, boot ROM, and hardware-related functionality.
  • Debug firmware and hardware boundary issues using waveform-level analysis to identify root causes.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Canada-based university bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge or experience with low-level BIOS, firmware, or system software development is encouraged.
  • Knowledge of C or C++ and hardware architectures is encouraged.
  • Knowledge of embedded systems, RTOS, and embedded controller structures is encouraged.
  • Familiarity with source control, debuggers, compilers, and system-wide software-to-firmware-to-hardware debugging is encouraged.
  • Knowledge of open-source concepts, VHDL, Verilog, FPGA, and general hardware design concepts and processes is encouraged.
  • Familiarity with Linux development environments, graphics or compute pipelines, and Perforce, JIRA, or Git is encouraged.
