Principal Engineer - Performance Testing

Responsibilities
- Lead performance testing strategy and deliverables for large, highly complex programs across multiple technical teams.
- Own the design, execution, and analysis of end-to-end performance engineering for critical platforms.
- Diagnose application, infrastructure, network, and configuration bottlenecks and define tuning and architectural recommendations.
- Design and lead resiliency programs covering chaos, stress, load, failover, breakpoint, and disaster recovery testing.
- Partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, and network teams to establish performance, resiliency, architecture, and operational-readiness standards.
- Create reusable performance-testing utilities and components using scripting languages.
- Analyze latency challenges with the CTO team and resolve complex production performance and stability issues.
- Create common Splunk and AppDynamics patterns, queries, and configurations for the Performance Engineering team.
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and expert guidance to engineers and leadership.
- Monitor industry best practices and recommend technologies and innovations that improve operations.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of engineering experience or equivalent experience demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- At least 7 years of executing and leading performance testing.
- At least 5 years of using scripting languages to create performance-testing utilities or reusable components.
- At least 2 years of experience working with observability rules.
- Ability to interact with all levels of an organization and demonstrate strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Preferred: at least 2 years of performance-testing experience in data center migration programs.
- Preferred: at least 5 years of experience with LoadRunner and/or JMeter/BlazeMeter.
- Preferred: at least 5 years of experience with AppDynamics, Splunk, or Grafana.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure, firewalls, load balancers, and OpenShift Container Platform or other cloud platforms such as PCF.
