
Principal Engineer - Performance Testing

Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, execution, and resolution of complex performance-testing and performance-engineering challenges.
- Own end-to-end performance engineering, including diagnosing bottlenecks and defining tuning and architectural recommendations.
- Design and lead resiliency programs involving chaos, stress, load, failover, breakpoint, and disaster recovery testing.
- Partner with application, infrastructure, cloud, network, and CTO teams on performance, resiliency, observability, and production stability.
- Create reusable performance-testing utilities and common Splunk and AppDynamics patterns, queries, and configurations.
- Analyze performance results and debug latency challenges.
- Guide, mentor, and provide technical direction to Performance Engineers and other engineers.
- Advise leadership and enterprise teams on technology solutions, engineering practices, and strategic opportunities.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
- At least 7 years of executing and leading performance testing.
- At least 5 years of using scripting languages to create performance-testing utilities or reusable components.
- At least 2 years of experience working with observability rules.
- Desired: at least 2 years of performance testing in data center migration programs.
- Desired: at least 5 years of experience with LoadRunner and/or JMeter/BlazeMeter.
- Desired: at least 5 years working with AppDynamics, Splunk, or Grafana.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure, firewalls, load balancers, and OpenShift Container Platform or other cloud environments such as PCF.
- Ability to interact with all organizational levels and demonstrate strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to be on call beyond normal working hours, work additional hours as needed, and travel up to 10% of the time.
