Senior Engineer, Live Streaming Video Specialist

Responsibilities
- Operate, automate, and continuously improve the live broadcast video pipeline for tens of thousands of events annually.
- Monitor stream health and viewer quality of experience and build tooling and alerting to identify issues proactively.
- Design data models and queries for SQL databases.
- Build and maintain backend microservices using Node.js/NestJS and/or Go.
- Write and execute unit and integration tests and maintain clean, well-tested code.
- Participate in code reviews and collaborate with product managers and stakeholders on new features.
- Diagnose and resolve live broadcast and streaming pipeline issues in real time and improve redundancy and failover.
- Participate in an on-call rotation supporting live streaming platform reliability.
Requirements
- Hands-on production experience operating live broadcast video at scale across contribution, transcoding, packaging, and delivery.
- Deep understanding of live broadcast signal chains, redundancy, failover, and graceful degradation.
- Experience with SRT, RTMP, Zixi, and WebRTC transport protocols.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js and/or Go, including language features and design patterns.
- Experience with SQL databases and RESTful API development.
- Familiarity with NestJS or similar backend frameworks.
- Experience writing and executing unit and integration tests with Jest and Vitest.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Bonus experience with AWS Elemental, OBS, vMix, Firebase/Firestore, SNS/SQS, MQTT, Kafka, Pub/Sub, Docker, Kubernetes, end-to-end testing frameworks, API security, data handling, and event-driven architectures.
