Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cellular modem firmware covering control flows, scheduling, RF control, and state machines.
  • Translate system and 3GPP requirements into robust firmware designs and implementations for 5G NR, LTE, multi-RAT, and emerging 6G technologies.
  • Develop and optimize timing-critical real-time firmware under strict latency, memory, performance, and power constraints.
  • Collaborate with modem systems, PHY, RF, and hardware teams to define and integrate end-to-end solutions.
  • Debug complex cross-layer firmware, hardware, RF, and system issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Drive assigned features through implementation, bring-up, integration, validation, commercialization, code reviews, and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent qualifying education or experience path.
  • At least 3 years of embedded systems or firmware development experience; the posting also lists alternate minimum paths involving a master's degree with 2+ or 1+ years of related experience, or a PhD.
  • Strong C programming skills and understanding of real-time embedded systems, including interrupts, concurrency, synchronization, memory, cache behavior, and low-level control logic.
  • Ability to translate system-level requirements into firmware, independently resolve complex technical problems, and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
  • Preferred qualifications include cellular modem firmware, DSP/MCU/heterogeneous SoC development, modem-to-RF control, scheduler or control-plane implementation, 3GPP specification interpretation, hardware-near development, silicon bring-up, and hardware/firmware debugging experience.
  • Experience with protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, probes, or similar lab equipment and AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or codex is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills and demonstrated initiative, ownership, and problem-solving ability.
