Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and project decision-makers.
- Develop, review, debug, and maintain secure, high-quality production code.
- Own the end-to-end architecture of a distributed, multi-tenant platform spanning cloud SaaS and isolated customer AWS environments.
- Build and guide backend APIs, data collection and ingestion workloads, data pipelines, and a customer-facing dashboard.
- Establish security- and privacy-by-design standards covering data residency, IAM, egress controls, artifact verification, and control-plane/data-plane separation.
- Drive adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices, including code review, refactoring, testing, release readiness, and incident analysis.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and advocate for firmwide software development lifecycle frameworks, tools, and practices.
- Lead and mentor technologists while setting technical direction and promoting reuse of engineering patterns and automation.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, operational stability, and leading or mentoring technologists.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages, with Java or Python and JavaScript or TypeScript strongly preferred.
- Experience with Django, FastAPI, and React in backend and frontend application development.
- Experience leading enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development and validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure input/output handling, resiliency, security, and compliant usage coaching.
- Advanced proficiency with automation, continuous delivery, and the software development lifecycle.
- Experience designing and operating containerized workloads on Kubernetes/EKS using Helm and infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS services including EKS, ECR, RDS/PostgreSQL, S3, SQS, EventBridge, IAM, IRSA, KMS, and Secrets Manager.
- In-depth knowledge of financial services industry IT systems and demonstrated technical leadership in cloud, AI, machine learning, or large-scale data engineering.
- Preferred: experience architecting data pipelines or lakehouse platforms with Databricks, Spark, and Delta Lake.
- Preferred: production generative-AI or LLM experience with AWS Bedrock, vLLM, or provider APIs, including inference cost, latency, evaluation, and data-governance trade-offs.
- Preferred: experience defining multi-tenant architecture standards and delivering software to regulated, isolated, or air-gapped environments.
