Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize frontend and backend applications through hands-on coding, debugging, and rigorous code reviews.
- Build scalable backend services with Java, Spring Boot, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture.
- Drive architectural decisions, technical design, documentation, engineering standards, and non-functional requirements.
- Mentor team members, lead projects, coordinate with cross-functional engineering teams, and promote technical knowledge sharing.
- Improve application health, quality, performance, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution.
- Implement models and algorithms operating on massive amounts of data and contribute to Walmart’s engineering community.
- Develop project timelines, manage delivery, and lead technology initiatives and innovation.
- Build or support shared tools, frameworks, and platform capabilities for other developers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in designing and developing highly scalable applications and platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant computing or software field and 4 years of related experience, or 6 years of related software engineering experience.
- Proficiency in a high-level programming language such as Java or Python.
- Experience with big data technologies and frameworks such as Spark and Kafka.
- Deep understanding of system design, microservices architecture, and application programming interfaces.
- Experience with Git, SQL and NoSQL databases, caching solutions, cloud-native technologies, and DevOps practices.
- Experience working in platform teams or building shared developer tools and frameworks.
- Ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code and solve complex technical problems.
- Demonstrated leadership, project ownership, mentoring, and strong written and verbal communication.
- Experience with e-commerce or marketplace platforms is preferred.
- A relevant master’s degree with 2 years of software engineering experience, open-source contributions, or internal platform evangelism is preferred.
