Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the platform that orchestrates security scanning, surfaces findings as control checks, and enforces security standards through GitHub's policy engine.
- Design, develop, and implement cloud-native platform services on AWS using IAM, ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, RDS, S3, and CloudFormation.
- Build APIs, event-driven integrations, automation services, and CI/CD capabilities for reliable, scalable security testing.
- Maintain platform reliability through automation, observability, self-service, and production support practices.
- Embed secure development practices across SAST, SCA, container, and API security scanning capabilities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship while driving engineering standards, architecture improvements, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and DevSecOps leaders to define technical direction, manage risks, and deliver business-critical solutions.
- Coach engineers on appropriate adoption of AI-assisted development.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering, application development, or platform engineering experience, including at least three years of hands-on development.
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience; a graduate degree is preferred.
- Strong expertise with AWS cloud technologies and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong object-oriented programming fundamentals in Java and ability to work in more than one programming language.
- Experience with APIs, automation solutions, CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems, production platform operations, observability, and reliability practices.
- Experience with Node.js and TypeScript is a plus.
- Ability to lead technical initiatives, influence across organizational boundaries, build trust, and mentor engineers.
- Practical perspective on AI-assisted development and genuine interest in applying it appropriately.
- Preferred experience includes platform engineering, DevOps, CI/CD pipeline engineering, enterprise cloud migration or modernization, and enterprise-scale automation.
- AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer Professional, or AI Practitioner are preferred.
- Understanding of application security, DevSecOps, or secure software development practices is preferred.
