Base Salary
$150k - $215k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and train machine-learning and deep-learning models on time-series and biosensor data.
- Optimize, fine-tune, test, monitor, and deploy models in production across constrained edge and cloud environments.
- Translate research prototypes into scalable, efficient, and cost-effective ML inference systems.
- Support algorithm documentation for regulated health features and address data-quality and model-functioning issues.
- Conduct experiments, prepare reports, and contribute to research and new WHOOP product features.
- Collaborate with engineers across Sensor Intelligence, Data Science, and Firmware teams.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or a related field.
- Published research papers in machine-learning or deep-learning domains, preferably involving biomedical data.
- Four or more years of machine-learning/deep-learning research experience, or two or more years of post-PhD work experience for candidates with a PhD; requirements may be relaxed for exceptional candidates.
- Strong understanding of machine-learning fundamentals, deep-learning techniques, and the mathematics underlying algorithms.
- Strong experience with time-series data, wearable or physiological signals, high-frequency sensor data, and signal-processing concepts.
- Experience with multiple deep-learning architectures and proficiency in Python, ML/DL frameworks, and libraries such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
- Experience developing or supporting regulated or high-risk ML systems is a plus, including validation, documentation, and change-management familiarity.
- Experience training, fine-tuning, or deploying Foundation AI models and experience with AWS or GCP are pluses.
- Strong written and verbal communication, cross-functional collaboration, innovation, adaptability, and ability to produce high-quality reports under tight deadlines.
- Commitment to using AI tools while maintaining high-quality standards.
