Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable, reliable Tier-1 services for real-time order planning, fulfillment optimization, inventory allocation, and network cost management.
- Own architecture across distributed systems involving gRPC service meshes, Kafka event pipelines, CPLEX optimization solvers, Redis and S3-backed caching, and multi-region deployments.
- Write production code in Kotlin and Java while setting standards for correctness, performance, and operational safety.
- Lead design and code reviews for latency-sensitive order flows with sub-second solver deadlines and P99 monitoring.
- Drive reliability through circuit breakers, graceful degradation, observability, and incident prevention.
- Partner with Product, Data Science, and Operations to translate fulfillment optimization goals into technical execution.
- Mentor engineers and create durable technical mechanisms such as pipeline patterns, adapter abstractions, and feature flag discipline.
Requirements
- Proven experience designing and operating high-scale distributed systems with strict latency and reliability requirements.
- Excellent hands-on coding ability in Kotlin or Java for backend systems at scale.
- Deep understanding of API design, concurrency, data modeling, caching strategies, messaging, and service-to-service communication using gRPC and REST.
- Strong code review skills with the ability to identify correctness, performance, and reliability issues in complex codebases.
- Experience operating production-grade systems with high QPS, large data volumes, or Tier-1 SLAs.
- Experience with Kafka-based event-driven architectures at scale.
- Experience with multi-region systems, including region-specific routing, data isolation, and cross-border fulfillment.
- Experience with resilience engineering, including circuit breakers, retry strategies, load testing, capacity planning, and graceful degradation.
- Track record of technical leadership through architecture direction, cross-team alignment, and mentoring senior engineers.
- Preferred experience in ecommerce, fulfillment, supply chain, logistics, inventory, order management, or planning systems.
- Preferred experience with optimization systems such as CPLEX, OR-Tools, decision engines, constraint programming, or production systems integrated with data science.
- Preferred experience using Agentic AI development and code review tools such as Cursor, Copilot, Devin, or Claude Code.
- Preferred experience with specification-driven development using OpenAPI/Swagger, Protocol Buffers, API-first design, or contract-first development.
