Responsibilities
- Define technical direction, system architecture, and multi-year roadmaps for core platforms, distributed services, and high-throughput data pipelines.
- Design and implement highly available, low-latency, fault-tolerant architectures across multi-region cloud environments.
- Establish practices for operational excellence, observability, automated testing, SLO/SLA attainment, and performance optimization.
- Lead platform modernization, cloud migration, infrastructure cost optimization, and compliance or security initiatives.
- Align engineering organizations around architectural standards, reusable frameworks, and API contracts.
- Mentor senior and staff engineers, participate in architecture review boards, and influence hiring standards.
Requirements
- Extensive experience architecting, operating, and scaling enterprise-grade distributed SaaS platforms at high volume.
- Mastery of backend technologies such as Java, Scala, Go, or Python; distributed datastores; and message brokers or event-streaming architectures such as Kafka.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS or GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform, and microservices architectures.
- Demonstrated success improving uptime, reducing latency, establishing SLO-driven reliability frameworks, and conducting root-cause analysis for outages.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to executive stakeholders and guide cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in distributed consensus, multi-tenant isolation, caching strategies, event-driven systems, chaos engineering, observability, and automated incident mitigation.
