Base Salary
$204k - $260k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end technical strategy and architecture for iHerb’s iOS and Android mobile platforms.
- Lead the mobile modernization effort, including technical scoping, execution, re-architecture, and coordination across teams.
- Write production mobile code, build proofs of concept, and validate architectural decisions through working software.
- Set and enforce mobile engineering standards through code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical guidance.
- Evaluate cross-platform frameworks and establish maintainable native and cross-platform patterns.
- Drive complex technical decisions spanning multiple teams and shared platform services.
- Establish iHerb’s AI-driven SDLC golden path, including Claude Code skills, guardrails, and automation patterns.
- Lead architecture reviews, align peer Principals and Engineering Managers, and resolve competing technical approaches.
- Mentor senior engineers and raise the technical bar across the engineering organization.
- Represent engineering in cross-functional discussions and document architectural decisions in the shared knowledge base.
Requirements
- Generally requires 10+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience at the senior, staff, or principal individual-contributor level.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, or equivalent education and work experience.
- Demonstrated use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor to ship production systems.
- Experience designing and evolving large-scale distributed systems involving APIs, data pipelines, event-driven architectures, or high-traffic platforms.
- Track record of driving architectural standards, technical roadmaps, or platform initiatives across multiple teams or organizations.
- Deep production-level expertise in Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, with experience on both platforms required.
- Hands-on experience with React Native or Kotlin Multiplatform.
- Experience owning mobile platform architecture decisions and leading a mobile modernization or significant re-architecture effort.
- Ability to write architecture documents, communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, and build consensus without formal authority.
- Experience working in distributed teams across the US, China, and Latin America.
- Strong engineering quality, observability, test automation, troubleshooting, organization, judgment, and communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Google Business Suite experience is preferred.
