Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Windows AI platform components, services, APIs, SDKs, evaluation systems, and developer tooling.
  • Translate ambiguous platform and product needs into technical plans, milestones, interfaces, and engineering investments.
  • Define scalable patterns for model onboarding, inference, orchestration, versioning, compatibility, telemetry, and lifecycle management.
  • Design architecture that scales across Windows device classes, silicon partners, application scenarios, and release channels while maintaining API consistency and backward compatibility.
  • Drive quality strategy covering automated evaluation, output-quality regression, performance, power, memory, reliability, security, privacy, and responsible AI validation.
  • Lead technical investigations and guide prototypes into production platform features.
  • Own observability, incident prevention and response, safe rollout, servicing, backward compatibility, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with product managers, applied scientists, engineering teams, and technical leaders to align dependencies and deliver platform solutions.
  • Improve engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, maintainability, operability, and mentoring.
  • Communicate technical strategy, risks, trade-offs, and outcomes to engineering and leadership audiences.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline and 8+ years of professional software development experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages such as C++, C#, or Python.
  • Strong understanding of software and API design, testing, debugging, data structures, algorithms, and source-control practices.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and shipping complex production software, developer platforms, cloud services, or distributed systems.
  • Proven ability to lead technical execution across multiple contributors or partner teams and deliver through ambiguity.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Preferred: deep experience with AI/ML platforms, model-serving or inference systems, agent frameworks, evaluation infrastructure, or AI developer tooling.
  • Preferred: experience defining quality metrics, evaluation datasets, regression gates, experimentation frameworks, and release criteria for AI systems.
  • Preferred: experience with Azure, cloud-native architecture, distributed systems, observability, security, and production operations.
  • Preferred: experience with Windows development technologies, Visual Studio, Windows SDK, WinAppSDK, low-level systems programming, Windows servicing, OS integration, compatibility, or multi-device platform architecture.
  • Preferred: experience designing public developer APIs or contributing to open-source projects and developer ecosystems.
  • Preferred: working knowledge of responsible AI, privacy, security, accessibility, compliance, and data-governance requirements.
