Responsibilities
- Lead projects from concept through design, delivery, operations, and customer follow-up.
- Design, build, and operate distributed database ingestion, storage, and query components.
- Improve system performance, scalability, cost efficiency, onboarding, and integrations across the Grafana platform.
- Translate customer pain points into deliverables and directly shape the Pyroscope roadmap.
- Own SLOs and unit-cost targets, reduce operational toil through automation, and improve incident response.
- Collaborate with App Observability, Alloy, Tempo, and other Databases squads.
- Support teammates through design discussions, code reviews, and pairing.
- Participate in an EMEA on-call rotation for owned services.
- Contribute to Pyroscope as an open-source project, including community engagement and external code review.
Requirements
- Production experience building and operating distributed cloud services and multi-tenant data systems.
- Solid experience with Go or another systems language such as Rust, C, C++, Python, or Java.
- Experience with reliability-focused operations, including on-call, SRE-style work, or infrastructure as code.
- Strong software craftsmanship and the ability to design, deliver, operate, and iterate on complex systems.
- Product sense, including comfort speaking with customers, handling ambiguity, and shaping roadmaps without a dedicated product manager.
- Clear written communication and effectiveness in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
- Preferred experience includes profiling and performance engineering with flamegraphs, pprof, perf, or similar tools.
- Preferred experience includes OpenTelemetry, large-scale observability systems, Kubernetes-based multi-tenant SaaS infrastructure, AI/LLM consumers, open-source contribution, or Grafana, Prometheus, or Pyroscope.
- Experience working in a fully remote, globally distributed team is a bonus.
