Responsibilities
- Architect and evolve cloud-native data platforms for production and analytics.
- Drive architectural changes to improve scalability and reduce costs.
- Own performance optimization across data workloads.
- Lead modern data architecture beyond traditional databases.
- Design and own high availability, disaster recovery, and multi-region strategies.
- Apply FinOps best practices to analyze and optimize cloud data spend.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, infrastructure, and security teams.
- Promote DevOps and platform best practices.
- Define standards for scalable, reliable, and cost-transparent data storage and access.
- Ensure security, compliance, and governance across databases and lakehouse platforms.
- Mentor engineers and DBAs on modern, cost-aware cloud data architecture.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in database administration with increasing ownership of cloud architecture decisions.
- Deep expertise in cloud-based database design, cost and efficiency planning, performance tuning, and scaling strategies.
- Hands-on experience with high availability, replication, backup, and disaster recovery in the cloud.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, and identity as it relates to data platforms.
- Experience supporting enterprise SaaS platforms with strict uptime and compliance requirements.
- Prior experience in compliance, risk, financial services, or data-intensive SaaS environments preferred.
