Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve scalable Java/J2EE shared services supporting Visa’s product development ecosystem.
- Lead technical discovery, architecture, design, planning, piloting, and integration of shared-platform capabilities.
- Define standards and best practices for Java development, API design, security, scalability, and reusable services.
- Implement cloud-native, containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes with high availability and elastic scalability.
- Partner with Security teams on API gateways, authentication, authorization, security controls, and compliance-driven architectures.
- Analyze defects, incidents, and performance metrics to drive long-term platform reliability and operational improvements.
- Provide mentorship, technical leadership, and coaching to engineers across technical initiatives.
Requirements
- At least 10 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, 7 years with an advanced degree, 4 years with a PhD, or 13 years of relevant experience without a degree.
- Preferred qualifications include 12+ years with a bachelor’s degree, 8–10 years with an advanced degree, 6+ years with a PhD, or 13+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Strong expertise in Java, Core Java, J2EE, distributed systems, scalable architectures, and highly available secure services.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud migration, multi-cloud strategies, and AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Experience designing secure API gateways, authentication and authorization mechanisms, enterprise integrations, and API-first architectures.
- Experience with Unix/Linux commercial software development, deployment automation, observability, capacity planning, and production operations.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, ownership of system design and delivery, cross-functional influence, project coordination, mentoring, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with integrating AI tools and services to improve platform intelligence and developer productivity.
