Responsibilities
- Take AI- and ML-centric use cases from discovery and rapid prototyping through production and continuous improvement.
- Engineer product-specific intelligence layers covering data and feature transformations, decision logic, model and tool integrations, knowledge grounding, user-facing services, human oversight, and fallback behavior.
- Partner with product managers, domain experts, data scientists, engineers, and stakeholders to frame problems, define priorities, and establish product outcomes.
- Set technical direction and architecture across multiple AI products and resolve complex cross-product trade-offs.
- Build reliable, scalable, secure, observable, and appropriately tested AI solutions with documentation, evaluation, and traceability.
- Apply Responsible AI, data integrity, validation, auditability, governance, and security practices in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.
- Develop reusable AI architecture patterns, components, reference designs, and engineering standards in collaboration with the AI Foundation team.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and coding agents responsibly while maintaining code quality and review standards.
- Align complex stakeholder groups and coach engineers, senior engineers, and technical leads without formal authority.
Requirements
- Typically 12+ years of relevant experience building AI or software products.
- Proven experience taking AI-centric applications from concept to production or shaping product and platform capabilities used by multiple teams.
- Hands-on production experience with AI solution evaluation, monitoring, reliability, security, governance, and cost-performance trade-offs.
- Deep expertise in one or more AI engineering domains and broad fluency in statistical, machine-learning, and modern AI application concepts.
- Strong programming and software engineering skills, including testing, documentation, APIs, architecture, and modern development practices, preferably with GitHub.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools and coding agents effectively and responsibly.
- Knowledge of modern AI interfaces and standards, including model and tool integrations, MCP, observability, evaluation, and traceability approaches.
- Strong product sense and ability to work with senior stakeholders, make trade-off decisions, and explain technical choices to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to establish enterprise AI architecture patterns, raise engineering standards, and coach technical teams.
- B.E., M.E., B.Tech., M.Tech., or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Desirable experience includes pharma AI domains such as clinical NLP, drug discovery AI, regulatory automation, or medical knowledge graphs.
- Desirable experience includes Databricks, Snowflake, Azure ML, Unity Catalog, MCP server design, and enterprise AI platform architecture.
