Responsibilities
- Lead the migration from a legacy monolith to a containerized Java and Spring Boot microservices architecture, including decomposition, domain modeling, and data migration planning.
- Design and implement scalable, highly available, multi-region distributed systems and event-driven alerting workflows using Kafka.
- Build backend services and APIs in Java and Spring Boot while contributing to operational UI and console experiences as needed.
- Drive performance, resiliency, observability, SLO/SLI instrumentation, latency, throughput, and incident-response improvements.
- Lead architecture evaluations, technical discussions, cross-team initiatives, mentoring, design reviews, and engineering standards adoption.
- Evaluate AI for Ops and lead responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering and automation tools.
Requirements
- Significant professional software engineering experience, including leading cross-team initiatives at the Lead level.
- Hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and operational stability for distributed systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and system design.
- Backend-focused full-stack capability with the ability to contribute across application layers and partner on UI work.
- Experience with automation, continuous delivery methods, CI/CD pipelines, and the full software development lifecycle.
- Cloud-native experience deploying containerized microservices and working knowledge of relational databases, specifically Oracle.
- Experience leading the safe and effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and validating their outputs for correctness, performance, security, and compliance.
- Preferred qualifications include Kubernetes/EKS, Kafka, distributed systems at scale, React, TypeScript, AWS, CockroachDB, Terraform, Helm, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, ELK, observability, mentoring, design reviews, and stakeholder management.
