Base Salary
$180k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define Cartesia’s multimodal data strategy for pre-training and post-training across human, synthetic, and web-scale sources, with particular depth in audio.
- Design and operate high-throughput pipelines for text, audio, and video ingestion, preprocessing, augmentation, dataset versioning, and training data loading.
- Partner with research and inference teams to co-design data systems with training and serving infrastructure, including batching, GPU-aware loading, and evaluation pipelines.
- Establish data-quality standards and connect dataset characteristics with model behavior through iterative feedback loops.
- Identify and source novel datasets while managing relationships and budgets with external data vendors and partners.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building ML data infrastructure, including training-data pipelines, dataset versioning, large-scale data loading, and data-system integration with model training and inference.
- Working knowledge of multimodal data, especially audio formats, preprocessing, augmentation, storage, and streaming patterns at scale.
- Strong modern software-engineering execution, including clean, well-tested code and the ability to select appropriate tools for the problem.
- Experience leading cross-functional technical efforts in a fast-moving, research-driven environment.
- Familiarity with building and evaluating datasets for generative models and a reasonable working knowledge of model training and inference.
