Base Salary

$75k - $129k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows for consortium datasets.
  • Integrate and harmonize omics, neuroimaging, longitudinal clinical, and digital pathology data into unified, analysis-ready formats.
  • Implement pipeline monitoring, alerting, data quality validation, data lineage, metadata, documentation, and reproducibility practices.
  • Manage cloud storage, compute resources, data lakes, access controls, infrastructure performance, costs, and deployment requirements.
  • Implement and document de-identification workflows and ensure data handling complies with Data Use Agreements and PHI requirements.
  • Upload and manage curated datasets in ADDI/AD Workbench and other designated repositories, including NIAGADS and GP2.
  • Provide technical support for data delivery, Data Use Agreements, repository access, beta testing, and data acceptance tracking.
  • Collaborate with the CTO, product managers, research scientists, data science teams, and external collaborators to translate research needs into pipeline and infrastructure specifications.
  • Maintain technical documentation, data catalogs, data dictionaries, lineage records, and reporting materials.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least three years of hands-on data engineering experience designing and developing production or research data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Python and SQL.
  • Experience with cloud data platforms, with Microsoft Azure preferred and AWS or GCP acceptable.
  • Experience integrating, harmonizing, and validating complex multi-source datasets.
  • Production-grade Python development using version control, code review, and automated testing.
  • Experience with at least two biomedical data modalities, including omics, neuroimaging, digital pathology, or longitudinal clinical/EHR data.
  • Demonstrated experience with neurodegeneration or Alzheimer’s disease research datasets and familiarity with NACC, ADNI, or related repositories.
  • Preferred experience with biomedical, clinical, or research datasets; ADDI, Synapse, Terra, or NACC/ADNI platforms; Apache Spark, dbt, Airflow, or Azure Data Factory.
  • Preferred familiarity with data governance, Data Use Agreements, federated data architectures, AI/ML or data science teams, research cloud computing, data catalogs, lineage platforms, and biomedical de-identification.
  • Preferred master’s degree, PhD, or terminal degree in a related field; a combination of education and experience may substitute for minimum education.
  • Preferred familiarity with agentic AI, RAG or LLM-based systems, LangGraph, DSPy, biomedical NLP, knowledge graphs, Neo4j, or Amazon Neptune.
