Base Salary
$180k - $390k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver performant, reliable, empathetic production AI agents for sensitive healthcare interactions.
- Own the Agent Development Life Cycle from initial pilot through deployment and continuous iteration.
- Build, tune, and evolve AI agents serving healthcare payers, providers, and platforms.
- Partner directly with healthcare executives and technical teams to address operational and customer-experience challenges.
- Develop expertise in EHR and patient-access integrations, payer and provider operations, and healthcare data and interoperability standards.
- Build agents for benefits and eligibility, claims and billing, scheduling and intake, provider search, voice interactions, and financial assistance.
- Prototype tools and features and collaborate with research, product, and platform teams to improve Sierra’s healthcare agent platform.
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and strong PHI and data-privacy safeguards.
Requirements
- Experience building and scaling end-to-end production systems.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills in fast-changing and ambiguous environments.
- A builder’s and tinkerer’s mindset with high agency and a focus on shipping.
- Comfort working directly with customers to understand needs and solve real-world problems.
- Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Genuine interest in healthcare and improving patient or member experiences.
- Preferred: experience in healthcare technology, health IT, or working with healthcare organizations.
- Preferred: familiarity with Epic, Cerner/Oracle Health, athenahealth, X12 EDI transactions, clearinghouse workflows, scheduling and patient access, practice management, and contact center platforms.
- Preferred: understanding of HIPAA, PHI handling, and healthcare data privacy.
- Preferred: experience building or deploying AI/LLM systems in production.
- Preferred: familiarity with evaluation frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
- Preferred: prior experience with React, TypeScript, and/or Go.
- Preferred: prior customer-facing experience or experience leading technical projects with external stakeholders.
- Founder or founding-engineer experience is valued.
