Responsibilities
- Design new and optimize existing content delivery architectures to improve performance, resilience, and product capabilities.
- Use log analysis and observability systems to troubleshoot issues, diagnose problems, and perform detailed performance analysis.
- Support large-scale multi-CDN design and operations, content-origin workflows, dynamic ad insertion, manifest manipulation, and player technology integrations.
- Conduct peer reviews and contribute to reliability improvements and incident reduction.
- Develop Functional and Non-Functional Testing methods, procedures, and automation.
- Create and maintain production operations runbooks and checklists.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to resolve operational issues and performance degradation.
- Build a comprehensive technical understanding of NBCUniversal’s streaming products and associated technologies.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a relevant field is preferred.
- A background in CDN or web server/proxy configuration management is desirable but not required; full CDN training will be provided.
- Sound production understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, DNS, HTTP, TLS, and load balancing.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Cloud-based networking, firewall, security, and data-product experience is a plus.
- Experience using software repositories, CI/CD pipelines, and test automation.
- Familiarity with large-scale distributed performance testing, including Functional and Non-Functional Testing, is a plus.
- Ability to use automation, scripting, and/or programming to solve problems and reduce effort.
- Experience working with SRE teams and technologies to support safe and consistent operations.
- Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to collaborate across time zones and cultures.
