Responsibilities
- Debug and permanently fix hardware/software interface failures affecting robot uptime, including issues with actuators, buses, sensors, and recovery paths.
- Tune Linux parameters to achieve reliable and predictable operating-system performance.
- Help design and implement a safety system with meaningful guarantees for warehouse operators.
- Write control interfaces for new devices such as cameras and barcode scanners.
- Identify metrics for predictive failure signals and overall hardware health.
- Prioritize work from the ticket backlog and contribute outside pure firmware when needed.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience shipping firmware on real robots or similarly demanding embedded systems.
- Experience working from oscilloscope traces and schematics through kernels, drivers, and application control loops.
- Experience identifying, diagnosing, and fixing intermittent failures involving timing, noise, thermal behavior, and state machines.
- Ability to produce production-quality code and contribute beyond firmware when required.
- Mechanical or electrical engineering experience designing and manufacturing robotics components, custom PCBs, or engineered parts is preferred.
