Responsibilities
- Define and promote cross-team coding, architecture, quality, and non-functional requirements standards.
- Guide multiple teams toward iterative development, autonomous decision-making, and a shared technical vision.
- Promote engineering craft practices including testing, observability, continuous delivery, progressive rollout, resilience, and maintainability.
- Use DORA, defect, coverage, and incident metrics to prioritize engineering improvements.
- Lead cross-squad incidents and serve as a security point of reference for multiple teams.
- Frame complex system-level technical problems involving distributed and event-driven architectures.
- Help product managers make roadmap decisions through technical trade-offs and cost/value considerations.
- Design and deliver high-impact workshops, training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Lead unassigned cross-functional topics and align architecture, platform, security, and product stakeholders around shared decisions.
- Improve the organization’s overall developer experience.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of software development experience.
- Significant experience operating at a cross-team and strategic level, such as Staff, Principal, or an equivalent role.
- Deep demonstrated engineering-craft orientation with mastery of testing, software quality, observability, DORA metrics, and non-functional requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and align multiple stakeholders without formal authority.
- Confirmed experience facilitating workshops and training and mentoring other engineers, including Senior Engineers.
- Strong command of distributed system architectures and ability to connect technical decisions to product and market value.
- Understanding of FinOps and cost/value trade-offs.
- Excellent communication and technical simplification skills, with pragmatism and the ability to foster constructive disagreement and durable alignment.
