Responsibilities
- Provide application guidance for high-complexity applications across Cognex products.
- Integrate Cognex products with PLCs, PCs, controllers, and other devices.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and onsite optimization of Cognex solutions.
- Conduct trials and data analytics to improve solution performance.
- Provide Sales with technical options during customer communications and visits.
- Document advanced findings and create training for the application engineer community.
- Maintain business systems information for accurate reporting.
- Provide product and customer feedback to AE management and product owners.
- Mentor other application engineers.
- Respond to customer emergencies while on call.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
- Typically 4–6 years of experience in technical application development.
- Advanced knowledge of machine vision, image processing, optics, lighting, industrial communications, networks, controls, PLCs, and/or Warehouse Management Systems.
- Knowledge of two or more programming languages, such as JavaScript, VB, VB.NET, C#, .NET, or C++.
- Knowledge of motion control, robotics, automation equipment, and controls engineering concepts.
- Ability to troubleshoot onsite, perform trials, conduct data analytics, communicate with stakeholders, and handle challenging customer situations.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, varying work patterns, and on-call coverage.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, sometimes on short notice.
- Ability to work safely in industrial environments and follow safety guidelines and protocols.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and maintain customer confidentiality.
- English language proficiency in written and oral communication.
