Responsibilities
- Design, code, unit test, review, profile, debug, deploy, and support Oracle PL/SQL packages, Java services, APIs, batch components, data-processing modules, and integration frameworks.
- Own modular decomposition and modernization of legacy data-platform capabilities across on-premise and GCP environments.
- Develop scalable ingestion, onboarding, reconciliation, schema-validation, data-quality, provenance, and controlled schema-evolution capabilities.
- Build trusted data models, source-of-truth hierarchies, auditability, lineage, decision context, approvals, and traceable identification outcomes.
- Design secure APIs, events, configuration capabilities, coexistence controls, dual runs, cutovers, rollbacks, and progressive retirement of legacy components.
- Define and promote engineering standards for Java, Python, SQL, APIs, data modeling, testing, observability, resilience, security, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code.
- Lead technical design forums, mentor engineers through pair programming and code reviews, and influence architecture and control stakeholders.
- Implement observability, performance engineering, root-cause analysis, failure recovery, operational dashboards, and production support practices.
- Partner with Architecture, Information Security, Data Governance, Compliance, and operations teams on access control, encryption, retention, residency, resilience, disaster recovery, and change governance.
Requirements
- Expert hands-on Java engineering experience, including object-oriented and functional design, concurrency, JVM internals, memory and performance tuning, dependency management, and production debugging.
- Strong relational database engineering and advanced SQL experience, including analytical functions, execution plans, indexing, data modeling, stored procedures, and performance tuning; strong PL/SQL is highly desirable.
- Practical Python experience for data processing, automation, validation, orchestration, utilities, and integration.
- Experience building enterprise platforms, REST APIs, microservices, batch-processing systems, event-driven integrations, persistence frameworks, security controls, and automated tests.
- Strong data-platform engineering experience across on-premise and cloud environments, including ingestion, transformation, data quality, reconciliation, metadata, lineage, effective dating, and governed datasets.
- Hands-on GCP experience with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run and/or GKE.
- Experience modernizing legacy business-critical applications through phased decomposition, coexistence, migration, dual runs, reconciliation, and controlled cutover.
- Strong API-first, metadata-driven, data-modeling, service-contract, versioning, idempotency, schema-evolution, backward-compatibility, and secure-integration skills.
- Experience designing unit, component, integration, contract, reconciliation, regression, performance, and failure-recovery tests.
- Strong DevSecOps experience with Git, CI/CD, code-quality and security scanning, artifact management, containerization, Terraform, configuration management, secrets management, and repeatable environment promotion.
- Experience designing observable and resilient services with logging, metrics, traces, health checks, retries, dead-letter handling, restartability, high availability, disaster recovery, and service-level indicators.
- Ability to translate security, privacy, data residency, retention, audit, and change-control requirements into technical designs and code.
- Ability to lead complex technical designs, influence experienced engineers, communicate trade-offs, build consensus, mentor peers, and maintain a strong hands-on coding and ownership mindset.
- Ability to use AI tools productively while applying critical judgment for responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
