Responsibilities
- Design, code, unit test, review, profile, debug, deploy, and support Java services, Oracle PL/SQL packages, APIs, batch components, data-processing modules, and integration frameworks.
- Own modular decomposition and modernization of legacy eDiscovery data-platform capabilities while preserving control logic and business traceability.
- Design coexistence, synchronization, reconciliation, dual-run, cutover, rollback, and progressive retirement between on-premise and GCP components.
- Build scalable ingestion and onboarding patterns with schema validation, data-quality controls, source traceability, and controlled schema evolution.
- Establish trusted data models, provenance, effective dating, source-of-truth rules, auditability, lineage, rule versions, decision context, and evidence capture.
- Develop secure APIs, events, configuration capabilities, automated tests, observability, resilience, operational dashboards, and production support tooling.
- Set engineering standards and lead design forums, code reviews, pair programming, reference implementations, performance engineering, and root-cause analysis.
- Partner with Architecture, Information Security, Data Governance, Compliance, and operations teams on access control, encryption, retention, residency, resilience, disaster recovery, and change governance.
Requirements
- Expert hands-on Java engineering experience, including concurrency, JVM internals, memory and performance tuning, dependency management, exception handling, and production debugging.
- Strong relational database engineering and advanced SQL experience, including analytical functions, execution plans, indexing, data modeling, stored procedures, and performance tuning; PL/SQL knowledge is highly desirable.
- Practical Python experience for data processing, automation, validation, orchestration, utilities, and integrations.
- Experience building enterprise platforms, APIs, microservices, batch-processing systems, event-driven integrations, persistence frameworks, security controls, and automated tests.
- Strong data-platform engineering experience across on-premise and cloud environments, including ingestion, transformation, data quality, reconciliation, metadata, lineage, and governed datasets.
- Hands-on GCP experience with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud Composer or Airflow, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run or GKE.
- Experience modernizing business-critical legacy applications through phased decomposition, coexistence, migration, dual runs, reconciliation, and controlled cutover.
- Strong API-first, metadata-driven, data-modeling, service-contract, versioning, idempotency, schema-evolution, backward-compatibility, and secure-integration capabilities.
- Experience with unit, component, integration, contract, reconciliation, regression, performance, and failure-recovery testing.
- Strong DevSecOps experience with Git, code-quality and security scanning, artifact management, containerization, Terraform, configuration management, secrets management, and repeatable environment promotion.
- Experience designing observable and resilient services with structured logging, metrics, traces, health checks, retries, dead-letter handling, restartability, high availability, disaster recovery, and service-level indicators.
- Ability to translate security, privacy, data residency, retention, audit, and change-control requirements into technical designs and code, along with strong communication and technical influence skills.
- Ability to use AI tools responsibly to improve productivity and solve business problems while applying critical judgment to data and AI outputs.
