Responsibilities
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 production support for mission-critical mainframe applications.
- Troubleshoot batch failures, online transaction errors, JCL abends, and production incidents.
- Perform root cause analysis and participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 availability.
- Implement COBOL bug fixes and minor enhancements.
- Modify and optimize DB2 stored procedures, triggers, and SQL queries.
- Maintain CICS online screens, transaction logic, and transaction environments.
- Monitor batch job flows using scheduling tools such as CA7, Control-M, and OPC/TWS.
- Perform DB2 data corrections, data cleansing, performance monitoring, and issue resolution with DBAs.
- Conduct impact analysis and maintain application stability and downstream-system integrity.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in mainframe application support.
- Expert-level COBOL experience, including Enterprise COBOL.
- Advanced DB2 experience with SQL, bind/plan, complex joins, and performance tuning.
- Hands-on CICS experience with transaction monitoring, screen handling, and CICS commands.
- Proficiency in JCL and IBM utilities including SORT, ICETOOL, and IDCAMS.
- Experience with mainframe debuggers such as IBM Debug Tool or XPEDITER.
- Experience with file management tools such as File-AID or File Manager.
- Experience with Endevor, Changeman, or similar software configuration management tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Banking, insurance, or retail industry experience is desirable.
- Understanding of mainframe integration with cloud or distributed environments, including MQ Series, is preferred.
- Strong analytical, communication, troubleshooting, and production-outage response skills.
