Responsibilities
- Lead several engineers within a team or workstream toward user value and business opportunities.
- Design, build, and own secure, observable, scalable Python microservices for Zego’s insurance platform.
- Drive architectural discussions and decisions across multiple teams.
- Deliver large and complex technical initiatives end to end.
- Improve engineering excellence across testability, reliability, scalability, and clean code.
- Coach and mentor engineers through context, feedback, and support.
- Improve team processes, including development pipelines and incident response, while investigating root causes.
- Communicate technical decisions and concerns with non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Deep hands-on backend experience building cloud-native microservices, preferably with Python or another strong programming language.
- Experience building distributed architectures and understanding performance tuning and observability.
- Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Ability to build simple, testable, maintainable systems and evaluate technical trade-offs.
- Leadership experience through mentoring, clear communication, collaboration, and ownership of ambiguous technical problems.
- Proactive collaboration with stakeholders beyond engineering.
- Curiosity and willingness to use and rapidly learn AI-assisted tools on a daily basis.
