Base Salary

$148k - $267k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own the analytics services portfolio, including user-facing analytics, search and aggregation, event rollups, telemetry analytics, APM services, and visualization interfaces.
  • Lead the design and delivery of Java-based microservices supporting analytics, search, aggregation, and reporting workflows.
  • Define analytics architecture, data models, service contracts, indexing, sharding, retention, and query strategies across distributed deployments.
  • Tune analytic queries and service interactions to meet strict performance, latency, and SLA requirements.
  • Operate analytics microservices, including service health, scalability, observability, incident analysis, and root-cause investigation.
  • Guide dashboards, visualizations, role-specific analytics views, reporting capabilities, and analytics access patterns.
  • Collaborate with data, platform, software engineering, and operations teams on ingestion pipelines, searchable data, telemetry, APM, and system reliability.
  • Lead engineering teams or multi-team delivery for analytics and search platforms.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or four additional years of experience in place of a degree.
  • 10+ years of software engineering, data platform engineering, search engineering, or analytics platform experience, including 4+ years leading a major technical service area or team.
  • Strong production experience building and operating analytics or search services, including Java-based backend services or microservices.
  • Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, and/or Grafana.
  • Experience with indexed query optimization, field and composite aggregations, nested or document-based aggregations, rollups, summary generation, caching, and strict-latency analytics workflows.
  • Experience designing analytics services for both user-facing business or mission use cases and internal operational telemetry or APM use cases.
  • Strong understanding of data ingestion, indexing, retention, search relevance, performance tradeoffs, troubleshooting, and distributed-system operations.
  • Experience designing role-based analytics access patterns and user-facing analytics or reporting services.
  • Active Top Secret SCI security clearance is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, Vue.js 3 or similar dashboard frameworks, telemetry pipelines, distributed tracing, RabbitMQ or stream processing, Elasticsearch cluster optimization, RBAC, multi-tenant analytics, capacity planning, and globally distributed platform support.
