Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship microservices and event-driven payment capabilities.
- Partner with architecture, product, data science, and AI platform teams to incorporate machine learning and AI-assisted workflows.
- Modernize legacy components using domain-driven design, strangler patterns, and AI-accelerated refactoring.
- Instrument and document systems with telemetry, feature flags, guardrails, and support for AI copilots and autonomous runbooks.
- Drive design reviews, automated testing, chaos and resilience practices, and reliability standards.
- Improve developer experience through automated pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, and AI-enabled tooling.
- Coach and mentor engineers on AI-first development, responsible AI use, and experimentation discipline.
- Make pragmatic engineering trade-offs, communicate risks, and balance transformation goals with delivery commitments.
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering software in complex, distributed, highly regulated environments.
- Expert-level Java skills and fluency with modern frameworks, testing libraries, and build tooling.
- Hands-on experience with AWS or a comparable cloud and with containerized services on Kubernetes.
- Working knowledge of event-driven architectures and streaming platforms such as Kafka, including modeling, testing, and operating event flows at scale.
- Experience with CI/CD, infrastructure automation, observability stacks, and Site Reliability/DevOps practices.
- Demonstrated use of AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or internal copilots, or experience building ML/LLM-enabled services.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional partners and navigate enterprise governance.
